Electrical faults are the work most shops least want, because they take patience and proper equipment rather than a part number. They are also the faults most likely to have been to two other shops before they get to us.
A modern car has dozens of control modules talking over a network. A window that stops working might be the switch, the motor, the module, the wiring in the door jamb that has flexed ten thousand times, or a ground connection that has corroded.
We trace circuits against factory wiring diagrams and do voltage drop testing to find high resistance, rather than swapping parts and hoping. It is slower to start with and far cheaper by the end.
Signs to watch for
- Windows, locks, mirrors or seats that work intermittently
- Lights that flicker, or bulbs that keep failing in one position
- Dashboard warning lights appearing in clusters
- The battery going flat when the car sits for a few days
- Accessories that stop working after rain
When to have it done
- As soon as an intermittent fault appears — they rarely improve on their own
- Immediately if you smell burning or see melted insulation
- After any aftermarket accessory installation that coincided with the problem
