A trouble code is a starting point, not an answer. A P0171 code does not mean you need an oxygen sensor — it means the engine is running lean, and that could be a vacuum leak, a dirty mass airflow sensor, a fuel delivery problem or an exhaust leak. Parts-swapping based on the code is how people end up spending money twice.
We use current scan tools with live data, freeze-frame and bidirectional control, plus an oscilloscope when the fault is electrical. That means testing the actual circuit or component rather than guessing from the code.
You get told what we found, what it will take to fix it, and what it will cost, before we proceed.
Signs to watch for
- Check engine light on, or flashing — flashing means stop driving
- A fault that comes and goes and never happens when someone else looks at it
- Poor running, stalling, hesitation or a loss of power
- Warning lights for ABS, traction control or airbags
- Someone already replaced parts and the problem is still there
When to have it done
- As soon as a warning light appears — codes stored early are easier to trace
- Before a state inspection, since a check engine light is an automatic fail
- When a problem is intermittent and needs live data captured while it happens
